Here it comes AGAIN!!

Here we go again! WOWWWWWW!!!! I am sitting here at 11Am watching it snow and snow and snow! Alex got stuck and Andy had to help him get unstuck! Alex just decided to stay where he got stuck which was in the road! That wasn't going to work! Sure wish I took my video camera, which reminds me, I need to take it out and start using it again, nice camera and only used it when we were in Europe.

My poor baby, he is soooo sore! I am writing and listening to him grunt and moan, Kim called him "Andy Do Gooder" between going over to help take my truck with the Warn Wench to pull out our Marina Del Rey friends, from being stuck between a tree and rock. Then going over to Kim and Daryl's and digging them out. All for nothing, because of today is going to be all a "do-over". We even got a call from our neighbors above us and asked to look at their poontoon boat seeing foot prints from their remote video camera. Andy worked his way up there, snow up to his middle thighs, and saw it was coyote tracks.

We even have bunny tracks on our patio all the way to our kitchen door. I bet he wanted to come in and snuggle up with Roadie Punkin Head and Mr. Utely, I have to post pics of them they are precious!

I downloaded all my Christmas music and am enjoying listening to it with a cup of Hot Chocolate and my husband. Boy is it snowing, I want to open presents!!!

Well enough for today, crazy weather, will be here and continuing at least until 10 tonight!

Well it's quiet time!!

It is 9:20AM, Did all the cooking yesterday, except for the turkey, will get that in the oven around 9:30, just now playing on the computer and talking to my sisters laughing and being very thankful for my family! Enjoying my self before I start with the cleaning of the house before my Mother and Father in law gets here.

Listening to Christmas music and having a nice quiet time before all breaks out! It snowed last night, not a lot just enough to have it white outside!
Happy Thanksgiving to my family and friends!

Will write later hopefully with some nice pictures too!

A little time on the lake

I was at a friend's home on Friday and they were taking her boat dock away for winter storage. I went out there to see how they were doing it. Low and behold when I looked down, the water was an incredible green!!! I ran to my truck, grabbed my camera and starting shooting pictures! With the help of Picasa on picking up details, they came out incredible. One of the shots looks as though it was taken 20k in the air, the one that has the lake and the boat/barg is incredible! I am having so much fun with photography, and I have so many pics I want to put on my blog, when the gates open and I get goin, WATCH OUT!!!!

Hope you enjoy these, I am going to put them on flickr as well!

Veterans's Day, or should it be Thanksgiving?

Well I was going to take a few days off from writing, there is a segment on TV that asks "Are you addicted to the internet"? Had to seriously ask that question of myself. The answer? Yes, I think I am. It is just so hard to have ANY questions or thoughts and not find out more information or answers on the internet. What a wonderful invention.

Why should it be Thanksgiving? Well, last night we went to Monday Night Football to meet with some friends and have dinner. Andy received a telephone call from Alex saying he has been in an car accident. Some rear ended him, thank God no one was seriously injured, however we are taking both boys to the doctors at 12PM to have them checked out....

You know, I was in thought this morning, while getting the house picked up, you ever wonder how God feels, have a child. You love them unconditionally, raise them in your shadow, show them good and try to keep them from evil. They start thinking for themselves, making their own decision and stumbling along the way. You, as a parent, try to keep them on the right path, to have them make the best decisions for themselves. Then one day, after years and years, you realize that they have their own free will and do as they please. You, know as being a parent, realize that these decisions either will help them or hurt them. All you can do is hold your breath and pray for the wisdom you have tried to put into them will guide them. When it doesn't, you hold your breath again and pray that the mistakes do not hurt them too bad! What a lot of STRESS!!!! Really makes me see what God is under and what he has to go through for us!

Well, hopefully all is great with everyone and another wild ride!

Until then...

Again I write

Just got up WAY TOOO EARLY, cold outside, 32, woke up to the fire coming on in the bedroom and the blower kickin in. How I love that fireplace, I keep talking about it but not posting any pics of it. What is wrong with me? OK off to look at pics I have done and will put them on before the weekend is done, I promise....today...well today is Friday, what does Friday mean to me? It means two things, one to tie up all that has happened all week long, to put everything into a "box" and not to bother with it until Monday. Andy taught me a long time ago, never to check the mail on Friday, because if there is something in the mail box that is not pleasant it could ruin your whole weekend, and by the time you check the mail, it is probably too late to do something about it. Great Advise, except for today. There are things I am expecting and need to check the Post Office, like a new Cooking Light Cookbook....yea, yet another one. I am addicted! Could be worse, like getting Paula Deen's cookbook, wait, I already have all of them including her sons. I am truly addicted to cookbooks.

I had to make a promise to Andy for each cookbook I buy I have to try at least one recipe, Ok I can do that, I JUST don't buy cookbooks for their pictures and stories....well sort of. If I ever get my cookbook finished I will be amazed. Then what will be left to feel guilt over in this life? Well, there is the pictures of Europe that I wanted to make a book out of (Pickaboo is wonderful). Now that is almost two years in the making. Here comes and goes another Christmas, there is always our anniversary, St. Patrick's Day, Easter, Birthday, Halloween, heck even next Christmas, Come on Jeanine get this thing done! Was that me just thinking that or did I actually write that?

Well off to town, let's see what my post office has to offer me today.....

P.S. By the way, Andy sold his motorcyle!!!! See, that guy got one incredible deal! What about wave runners? Hum....

Grocery Shopping!!!

I LOVE Grocery Stores!!!!! This seems to be the "new" shopping experience.

You know you are a foodie, when you plan your time around going to these gastorial palaces....From bargin to posh, grocery stores are my first love.

How much? Going to Dallas Texas for a hot food convention and working my schedule so we can try out the Grocery Store that everyone is talking about. The choices of bulk salt, WOW! We walked around there for over two hours just exploring and enjoy what each aisle would bring. The bulk salts, Oh my! Thanks to Gary and Tammie for that awesome experience!!!! OBTW, congrats on winning the artwork for your hot sauces Flaming Tongue, check out their website, when you have a moment. They are in Ardmore Oklahoma. Love ya guys!

Best ones? I think each of them have their place for different reasons. Example: Whole Foods, how great is that store! Unbelievable in the quality and choices you can have. Now tell me, where can you go to a grocery store and sit in the middle of it and have a glass of wine or champagne or both, nippling on different cheeses, while people are moving around with their grocery carts grocery shopping ? That is just wild....I love to get all the different cheeses and meats to bring home and try with friends and family. All I can say in incredible.

I look forward to going into these HUGE grocery stores and exploring. It is a like visiting Disneyland. Remember standing in line and not talking to anyone except your best friend because you were too cool to turn around and start up a conversation with (God forbid) the person behind you. Then after waiting in the line for over an hour you start up a conversation with the people around you. Enjoying the stories and making the whole line thing worth it! You get on the ride, excited about the wind blowing through your hair, the whipping back and forth of your body, shoving into your friend next to you....screaming and laughing at the same time. When you get off The People Mover, you say "let's get in line again!" Yea, that is how I feel about grocery stores. There are two I absolutely LOVE in Apple Valley and Victorville. It takes me over an hour to get to them, excitement running through me as I am on my way! Park in the humongous parking lot, walk a mile to get in and FINALLY!!! WOOO-HOOOOOOO! I'm in! What stores am I talking about? Vallarata and Winco!!!

What are they? Well Vallarta is a Mexican grocery store, HUGE!!!! I love going to this grocery store for numerous reasons:
1) I love authentic Mexican food
2) Love to prepare authentic Mexican food
3) Love to try new Mexican food and
4) Love the employees that work there
5) Meeting people that are there for the first time, to share their
experience with them.
6) Bring someone with you for their first time, i.e Kim (Boy you should have seen
her reaction! Priceless!

I bought cactus salad and will be sharing this new food with friends on our Sunday night dinner party, along with the BEST carne asada I have ever had! The mexican sour cream is so smooth and slightly salty. Homemade tortillas still warm in the package, all the fresh produce you can think of, and above all, the prices, OH my! Out of this world! On one whole side of the store they even have a food court that you can order almost anything, either eat right there or take it with you. I highly suggest you take an afternoon and check out this gem, I promise you won't be disappointed!

On to Winco, I have heard stories about this store, but it seems that when I am down the hill, there are so many other things I have to do and taking time to check it out the way I wanted to never seemed to happen. Well Tuesday, Andy and I decided to take the afternoon and drive down to fill up on foods for the winter. (We decided not to buy a cow this year (with the boys hardly ever home that is just too much meat for two people) but we did get a pig, (this year we also decided not to raise our own) and it should be done soon. (Our raising pig stories will follow in the next few weeks, when it is snowing and icky outside)

We had made plans to visit Costco, Winco, Albertson's and maybe Sam's Club. First stop...Winco...last stop Winco! We never made it further then this store!!!!!

All I can say is WOW!!! It is incredible! I knew that it was something because of the parking lot, (you can tell alot about a store because of it's parking lot).
Walked into the store and the shopping carts on the right was probably a 1/4 mile long! Looked up at the top of the store and gasped!!!! The store was unbelievable! It reminded me of TJMAX, that thrill when you walk in the door about the bargains you are going to find. You know that moment that certain something catches your eye, you pick it up, examine it, feel that little tingle in you, you look for the price tag, turn it over and Wa La! It's mine, is anybody looking at me? Does anyone know that treasure I have found. Careful now, but it in your basket, look cool, no one will know, why is that lady looking at me? Does she know? I better just look ahead and keep it cool. That is Winco. The prices are WOW! Bell Peppers 33 cents!!!! After 2.5 hours there we decided to call it a day, and head on home with our treasures. The people in line were just as nice as the employees, smiles and happiness.

Got home, brought all of our goodies inside, now to examine the booty! You know when you do good on how many bags you carry in...Smiles abound and cupboards full, freezer full, you can now sit down on the couch and smile, knowing you expedition has paid off in full and can't wait for the next time you enter that store...what treasures lie ahead?

Next topic, TRADER Joe's, Ultimate friend store....(What does that mean?)

Happy November 1st!

Why is it Happy November 1st? Today are my twins 18th Birthday!!!! Woooo-Hooooo! So much could be said but all I want to is to dance around with my hands in the air and sing at the top of my lungs!!!! WOOOOO-HOOOOO! I feel as though I am a third grader on the last day of school!!!! Wow what I LOOOOONG road!

All honesty, where in the world did the time go? Just the other day, we were dressing them up in their power rangers outfit and trolling down the streets for candy!!!! Though not much as changed except for the outfit and candy! Now they troll down the streets looking for girls (couldn't they be the same as candy, hum?) Well, we have raised some respectful young men, now just to put the icing on the cake. This year they will graduate HS and off they go. Do you remember your senior year in High School? It may have been almost 30 years but I remember it as tough it was last week. What memories. Good and the Bad....

Last night was a lot of fun...we went to the village and walked up and down the streets, visited with old and new friends. With this flu settling in my lungs, my energy level was not where it is supposed to be, so we made it an easy evening, stopped at El Jacilitos for an appetizer and headed home, made it home by 7PM. Watched the SI-FI channel. Ghost Hunters was on for 7 HOURS!!!!! I love that show! But 7 hours!!!!!! OMG! I made it until almost 11PM. Made sure my boys were home, locked the doors, closed the glass doors to the fireplace and headed to bed.

I have pictures and would love to show them to you. They are of the village and the fall colors.

I hope you like them as much as I had fun taking them. Have an awesome weekend and keep warm!!!

Love Jeanine!

HOME!

I am finally home!!!! I decided to drive home on Saturday, put my truck in Drive....put on Joel Olsteen Podcast and said a prayer and off I went! Made it home in three hours, non stop! I was so glad to be home, so much so that my body decided to get a horrible cold and test my sense of humor and sneeze my head off. Not to mention the coughing! Can you say OH MY GOD!!!! Nothing like having a hernia operation 10 days before and get a cold! At least my stomach is getting strong, in between screaming when I cough or sneeze!

Well since I am home bound for this week (Nothing is going to stop me from going to the village on Friday, I wait all year for this night) I am doing some research on a camera I want to get for Christmas .

I have done a lot of research and am looking at a Nikon D40. I have a point and shoot Cannon and am not happy with the blurry shots I take especially at night. I am obsessed with a website called: thepioneerwoman.com and her photos are awesome! So I think I am going to follow in her direction. I would like to expand my knowledge in photography and really take some nice pictures. I have asked via Internet for suggestions on camera types and the general summation is Nikon D40. With the price savings I can get a couple of really nice lens and focus (ha ha) on the details I want.

I will let you know what I find out and how the search is going!

Well off to sneeze again...and scream again. ..Enjoy your afternoon!

Just hangin' out in Vegas!

Just reviewing my blog and noticed I haven't written in a few days....Well I am in Vegas. I went here last Wednesday for (hopefully) my very last surgery! I had a hernia repaired from the original surgery of my gall bladder that popped in April. Was I terrified?!!!!!! Absolutely!!!! I had the same surgeon that did my gall bladder operation perform (I love Dr. Horsley!) this one. Andy took such good care of me until Sunday evening, then he went home and Rachelle and Mark came home from their vacation and have been here since.

I was going to go home today, but decided to take one more day and head on tomorrow. Eight days, not being home, Hum...as my BIL asks are you scratching at the bit? (He he). Yea but I know this will turn soon! I have been having a really good time with special time spent with my sister and BIL (brother in law).

Last night we took the dogs over to the District in Green Valley for dinner outside, Boy was it beautiful! I took some pictures and will post them when I get home. How pretty it was, it almost looked like Disneyland at night!

I went to lunch with my dad today. McDonalds....I haven't been to a Mickie Dees in about 8 years! Well when I was out of the garage door and out of the garage walking towards his car, I looked down and didn't have my shoes on! I said "I'm not wearing shoes!" My dad starting laughing so hard and so loud I thought he was going to fall! See why I am not leaving until tomorrow?!!!!!

With shoes on here we went to Micky Dees, and 2 1/2 hours later I am back home. Do you know why their chairs are so uncomfortable? So people will not hang out there, it works most of the time! My butt hurts!

Anyway, the operation went well, this time no pheumomonia and no blood clots (Considering I am taking two shots per day to make sure I don't get them. Ouch! In the stomach!

I am glad that Halloween is next week and I will be much better and then Saturday is my boys 18th birthday! 18 Where has the time gone!!!!

Have a great weekend!

Monday October 13th, 2008

Just reviewed my bog, realized I have not written in almost a couple of weeks. Life is good, just taking one day at a time.

I am leaving for Las Vegas on Wednesday to have my surgery on Thursday morning. Went to Las Vegas last week for a couple of days. Stayed with Rachelle and Mark one night and the next went to the Rio. What a nice couple of days! Not too many times do we get the chance to actually have the opportunity to play tourist.

We came home on Friday evening and woke up on Saturday to SNOW!!!! A lot of it too! Boy was it cold! It did not even get to 40 on Saturday and Sunday hit only to 44! Sunday morning we woke up and it was 18! What Happened!!!! So hopefully it will get nice over the next few days and it will return back to normal. The weather that is! I'll be in Vegas for a week after my surgery, the doctors are worried about me being in the high altitude so I will hang out with Rachelle and have a "little break", knowing me I will want to be home after a few days!

So we will see.

Anyway, I will write later to say hi and let everyone know what is going on!

Have a great Week!

I guess I won...won what?

Well, today being Wednesday....trying to clear my head from this weekend. You know I can't make stuff like this up, but as I often say, WELCOME TO MY WORLD!!!

Saturday afternoon, Andy went riding on his dirtbike (yes the first ride since his accident in June) with our friends Daryl, Kim, George and Sheila. Just a nice ride around the mountains, over to Rose Mine and just to poke around and enjoy the scenary. Well that did start out like that UNTIL......... Andy got hit by another motorcyle! They both got knocked off each of their bikes. Andy was able to get up and pull the bikes off the other guy shaking the "cob webs" off. A jeep showed up and helped get the second bike off the guy then a minute later the gang showed up. The cell phones don't work so far in the mountains so Andy took off came home and called for emergency help. The accident happened so far in that they couldn't get ambulances, firetrucks or cruisers back there. Andy told 911 that they would probably have to air vac the guy out....Well he was right, the others tried but couldn't get back there. Carl was the man who got hurt, when they finally got to him that sent him to Loma Linda and he broke his hip and femar bone in 4 places!!!! They had him in surgery until 1AM! We have called and checked on him and he is home now recovering.

So what did I win? When Andy was on the phone with 911 they put him on hold and Andy said to me, You won? I won, what did I win? They asked him if other people were involved in the accidnet and he said yes, one other person, him! My knees buckled! I just stood there stunned!

He looked OK, what the.... well after locating the ambulance and Carl's wife and sent them on the path (well sort off) the ambulance bent a rim and blew 3 tires trying to get there. We went back home (No, Andy refused treatment) and looked him over. Boy was he banged up! He went to the doctor's on Monday with tendant damage, probably a slight concusion and some really good bruises.

So that did it, he came to the conclusion to sell the motorcycle. Four near accident and two accidents, too many for comfort. My heart hurts for him because he loves this sport so much, but he said that God could not be yelling at him any louder for him to get rid of that bike before a real serious accident happened. Dr. Joe said that at 47 is when men start getting rid of their toys. Still hurts, but the words of Daryl to Andy is "your heart will heal". Good point. Hate to have that page turned, we all are getting older.

What happened with Daryl, Kim George and Sheila? They stayed with Carl the whole time!!! What angels they were! They kept him alert and from going into shock. What a life experience for them for these Orange County city people. Boy, have Daryl and Kim really "cowboyed Up" since they have lived here! With rattle snakes, fires, and now the accident in the mountains, what a wild experience! They didn't get back until after 7PM, dark and cold they had to drive in the forest to get out! Well they have a great story to tell for a long time. Good friends.

I do have some pictures that George took and when I get them I will try to put them on this post.

Well, Bruce is almost done with the tile in the kitchen! Steve was here yesterday putting the stone on the fireplace and today he will be finished with the grout and WE WILL BE DONE!!!

If you want a Susuki dirt bike at a fantastic price, it is over at Geared 4 U in Big Bear City.

Friday, September 26, 2008

Well, my feet are finally on the ground!

I am finally home from the crazy week!

I am writing to update everyone what has been going on.....my birthday week was fantastic! What an incredible town we live in. On Tuesday morning of the 16th, I received a call from the Post Office (can you believe the Post office called my house!!!) It was Guy and he said that there is a package that is sent to the Post office at is supposed to be sent to our home but since we do not get any mail here and only in the P O Box, he wanted me to know that the box was there! I go the biggest tickle out of that, and "Oh by the way" he says...Happy Birthday! What?!!! Found ot that Andy was at the Post Office the day before and told him it was my birthday and was waiting for this box to come in. Too funny!

My day was wonderful, we did go to Lake Arrowhead for lunch then down the hill in the afternoon for dinner at Linko's. Love that place!! We had such a good time with the boys, Kim and Daryl and of course Benard! We had some incredible food, thanks to Benards talents!

The weekend was busy with the Cowboy Gathering...my booth went well, thank Goodness for Chuck and Lavonne. I love them! What great friends they are of mine! I am so blessed to have them in my life! Long hours and a lot of dirt whirling around. Susie came over on Sunday morning and said that she woke up at 5AM that morning sat straight up and said" Oh no I hope Jeanine removed her food from the booth!" See, there were reports of a BIG POPPA BEAR sighted Friday around the PAC. When we came over to my booth and asked I said "Oh yeah, I took it all home and brought it back". Which I would of had to do anyway with the Heath Permit. The show was a lot of fun, except that I wanted to participate in everything and that just wasn't going to happen.

Monday, I went to my birthday lunch with Vicki, Blondies, I LOVE that place! That have the best Crab-Shrimp Loui I have ever had! The gifts were beautiful and I am truly blessed to have Vicki and Chuck as my friends, that just travel too much. (that is the selfish part of me!) Well now that the weather is cooling off, they will be spending more time home, YEA!!!

Tuesday I took of around 3PM and drove to Vegas. I arrived at Rachelle's house via Trader Joe's and made an incredible dinner and spent some much needed time with Sugar and Spice. They are so precious! Mark and Rachelle came home around 9:30. Visited with them for a bit then got up the next morning and went to Dr. Wojecks office. All blood work is FINE! So, now I schedule my surgery and get that done! Yea!!!!

Rachelle and I spent the rest of the day shopping at the Fashion Show mall. That night we went to dinner with Mark, Joey, Brenda and Gary and Pop at Green Valley Ranch in celebration of Rachelle's birthday. I was supposed to leave in the afternoon, but I was having so much fun with Rachelle, I decided to stay over. I am really glad of my decision. The next morning I left and stopped at State Line for a couple of more hours of shopping. See what happens when you live in a town that only has Kmart? Made it home around 5 to a glass of wine, dinner of Chicken Marsala and a very happy to see husband.

So today, I have sooo much to do, thank goodness that I have nothing planned this weekend except for taking care of my home and kind of doing a fall cleaning. I can't stand little nick-nacks around, it makes me edgy. So now I get to reorganize everything and get rid of a lot of stuff.

Andy is getting my fall stuff out. I love to collect the Halloween village. I have a few pieces and it is a lot of fun to get new pieces for my village. Ebay is great for that, well isn't Ebay great for EVERYTHING!

Bruce will be here on Monday to do our tile in the kitchen, Steve will be here on Monday for the rock on the bedroom fireplace and when it is done I'll post pictures. It is beautiful now! I can't wait to see the finished product!!!

Well, that is enough for now. Busy huh?

Monday, September 15, 2008

Good Morning!

I wanted to write for a moment. There is sooo much going on this week and in the past week!
As everyone knows we are doing a huge revamp to our home, (being that it is only a year and a half old). There were many things we wanted to get done before the winter hits, so we decided to jump off and get them done, BIG PROJECT!!!!

We took the tile off the kitchen counters (well they kind of took themself's off of the ends, at the worst times!) Andy went ahead and got the rest off the counter and the backsplash, we are having our "new" friend Bruce come up from Orange and do our new tile. I'll post pictures of it when it is done. Everyone asked me why didn't I do granite..well because I really like the varied sizes of tiles and a different pattern, reminds me of Italy. We bought a new stove, no it's not the regular 4 foot stoves like I have had in the other two houses. Can you believe that I got a 30" stove? I did all the research for MANY weeks and actually liked the Electrolux brand. It has the BTU's for my high boil point (being at 7,000 feet it takes FOREVER! for things to boil) and the simmer for my delicate sauces. I love the oven and the great gadgets it has, and look, it has a self clean option on it, Ye haw! The only thing that I really miss, or should I say Andy misses, is the griddle, he loved his 24" griddle on the Wolf and was satisfied with the 12" on the Jennair.

The garage: We finally have it finished! Tuesday the garage door guy came up and put the door in, YEA!!! Saturday, Andy painted it along with my little office. Now to get power to both buildings, which is being done today with Andy's employees. Another yea!

Steve was over on Saturday to work on my fireplace in the bedroom, he has it all framed up, it is HUGE!!!! I have to post pictures of it as the work is being done. Anyway, he decided to cut the boards in MY BEDROOM!!!! So when we were getting ready for bed, I looked at my bed, pictures, bed frame, floor and screamed!!! It was completely covered in sawdust!!!! What the.....? Why didn't he cover the bedroom furniture before he started working on it?!!! Well I am going over to Daryl's to pick up tarps to cover everything before I let him continue with the drywall, can you imagine what they will look like if I don't?

Bobbie came up yesterday for the day to celebrate my birthday early, it's not until Tuesday however, why not now!, what a nice afternoon! We went to lunch, did a little shopping and then went to the house and sat outside for a while before she went home. It is so nice to have her so close, an afternoon is doable.

Tomorrow Andy and I are going to Lake Arrowhead for the afternoon for lunch, then to Linko's down the hill for Sushi. Kim and Daryl will be joining us. I have a show at the PAC on Sat and Sunday for the Cowboy Poetry, I hope it doesn't snow like it did on Memorial Day when they were having the Storyfest! Speaking of snow, fall is on it's way, it is getting down to the 40's at night, almost cold enough to start having fires, I love my fireplace. Also just enough time to finish the one in our bedroom.

The Octoberfest is going on at the Convention Center, hopefully, we can take a weekend and get out there and have some fun! Andy has never been out to it, it has been a huge yearly event for the past 38 years. I havn't been since Linda and I went over 23 years ago! Wow seems like another lifetime! I'll write about it when I get around to going!

Next week will be just as busy, I am going to Vegas during the week to meet with the pulmologist for all the blood they took last week, 13 HUGE vials, those vials came out to over $1,000.00 Thank Goodness for insurance. It will be interesting to see how much at the end of the year this year has cost. I will also be making an appointment for my last (hopefully) surgery.

Well I'd better get goin for today, just wanted to write and say hi and let everyone know that I actually have more going on then just going to Mexico and hangin out!

Have a great day and I will be seeing everyone soon!

Love Jeanine

Stephanie's Birthday Weekend

Here are our pictures of Stephanie's Weekend. Picasa has a great new movie program and I have been trying to get it downloaded to my Blog. Still work in progress.
Hope everyone enjoys these pictures, we had a blast, except for the toll road being worked on so we had to take the "old" road, however, I finally saw the turnabouts in TJ!!!! I have been looking for them for years! But they were not as much fun as I remembered it. Considering it was 5 o'clock on a Friday in TJ!!! Took us over an hour that should have been 15 minutes. Thank God for Andy's driving!!!! Whew!

Video of Running with the Bulls, July 8th, 2007 Pamplona Spain

I can't believe I finally found the video of the running with the bulls! This is the day that Andy ran, however, I can't find him out of all those other crazy people. I tried to locate me I am on the right hand side right before the arena beside the medical guys in the red hats! Run Andy Run!

Remembering September 11th, 2001

This was sent to me from my girlfriend this morning. Strange in the sense that this was the first email I opened and when the tragedy happened seven years ago, she was the first one to call me and wake me up that morning.

From my home to all my friends and family. I thank God every day for your love and for you being in my life, I am truly blessed.

Take a moment to read this incredible message and tell your special someone you are thankful for them and for their gift in your life.

'MEET ME IN THE STAIRWELL'

You say you will never forget where you were when
You heard the news On September 11, 2001.
Neither will I.

I was on the 110th floor in a smoke filled room
With a man who called his wife to say 'Good-Bye.' I
Held his fingers steady as he dialed. I gave him the
Peace to say, 'Honey, I am not going to make it, but it
Is OK..I am ready to go.'

I was with his wife when he called as she fed
Breakfast to their children. I held her up as she
Tried to understand his words and as she realized
He wasn't coming home that night.

I was in the stairwell of the 23rd floor when a
Woman cried out to Me for help. 'I have been
Knocking on the door of your heart for 50 years!' I said.
'Of course I will show you the way home - only
Believe in Me now.'

I was at the base of the building with the Priest
Ministering to the injured and devastated souls.
I took him home to tend to his Flock in Heaven. He
Heard my voice and answered.

I was on all four of those planes, in every seat,
With every prayer. I was with the crew as they
Were overtaken. I was in the very hearts of the
Believers there, comforting and assuring them that their
Faith has saved them.

I was in Texas , Virginia , California , Michigan , Afghanistan .
I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news.
Did you sense Me?

I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew
Every name - though not all know Me. Some met Me
For the first time on the 86th floor.

Some sought Me with their last breath.
Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the
Smoke and flames; 'Come to Me... This way... Take
My hand.' Some chose, for the final time, to ignore Me.
But, I was there.

I did not place you in the Tower that day. You
May not know why, but I do. However, if you were
There in that explosive moment in time, would you have
Reached for Me?

Sept. 11, 2001, was not the end of the journey
For you. But someday your journey will end. And I
Will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may
Be found. Then, at any moment, you know you are
'ready to go.'

I will be in the stairwell of your final moments. ...God

During the next 60 seconds, stop whatever you are
Doing, and take this opportunity. (Literally it
Is only 1 minute.) All you have to do is the
Following:

Stop and think and appreciate God's power
In your life, for doing what you know is pleasing to
Him. If you are not ashamed to do this, follow the
Instructions. Jesus said, 'If you are ashamed of Me, I will be
Ashamed of you before My Father'

If you believe 'Yes, I love my God. He is my
Fountain of Life and My Savior. He Keeps me going day and
Night. Without Him, I am no one. But with Him, I can do
Everything. Christ is my strength.'
Have wonderful day. Love Jeanine

It's been a long time!

Wow haven't written in a long time! Life has been going to a CRAZY speed!
Since I have not taken time to keep everyone up to date, I thought I'd write to everyone (thank you for getting on me to get everyone up to date). So much has happened!

Stephanie moved down from Minnesota and have been having a blast with her! Two weeks after she got here we took her down to Roasarito for a great little vacation. I got some really cools pics of the dolphins swimming by the house, one way in the evening when we were having cocktails and the other way when we were having coffee in the morning, INCREDIBLE! Went to La Fonda for brunch and was sang to by a rooster! Momma and baby chicks were running around the restaurant and Poppa Rooster got up the stairs to the stage and let out the loudest Cockadoodledo I have ever heard.! Even trying to mimic him later that night, woke Andy up and straight out of bed! He said it sounded like a cat being killed, don't think so, in fact, I think I did a great imitation of a rooster if I may say so myself!

Stephanie and I entered the Chili Cook off in July for the Chili Verde, did we win? NOPE, but if we did what would be have to look forward to for next year! At least this year Andy didn't enter the Mr. Hot Sauce contest and take off his shirt! His arm hurt too bad! This is the story following:

Andy had a dirt bike accident on July 24Th! Pretty severe one, on his new motorcycle he got for himself for his birthday. First long ride out (should have been over 75 miles) he was in Angeles Oaks and dumped the bike, broke his collar bone, five broken ribs and collapsed his right lung. OK Bad enough, he drove home over 45 miles to get to the hospital. Courageous or stupid, don't know, I side on stupid. So for two months we have been trying to get life back to normal, I don't know what normal is!

He just got back last night from Cabo fishing with Rotary, he won the jackpot for the biggest fish! A 260 pound Marlin! All Right! I haven't downloaded the pictures but will sure to post the "prize".

They were in a tropical storm, shut down the road to Cabo (they were staying an hour away) and wasn't sure they were going to be able to get out on Monday. I think I was the one more nervous than they were! Been through too much this year to have a no big deal attitude. I don't want to take anything for granted. Life is too precious!

Been having fun on the boat this year, haven't been on it since Rachelle and Mark and the boys have been here, my goodness it's been a month! See, if you don't take time to enjoy life it will pass you by!

Here is article that the Big Bear Grizzly wrote about our chili team, we are know as the Western Devils Barn Burner Chili! :

Bob Collins never thought he would have to work for his son. That is exactly what Collins did at the Old Miners Chili Cook-off.

Collins and his wife, Susie, were part of the Western Devil Barn Burner Chili team. The night before the chili cook-off, Bob, Susie and the team assembled at the Calcutta Dinner at B’s Backyard Bar-B-Que. The dinner is fund-raiser where bidders try to buy chili teams. In return, the winning bidder splits the earnings if their team places at the cook off.

Mike Collins said bidding on his parents’ team was a safe bet. “They placed third last year,” he said. Mike had the highest bid at the Calcutta Dinner. “It’s a great fund-raiser and you have to get people excited,” he said.

Mike waited until Susie pushed the bid for the Western Devil Barn Burners to $125. Auctioneer Mark Gaines scanned the crowd and Mike yelled $130. Susie answered with a $140 bid. Mike raised the bar to $150 and Susie almost quit.

“I told her (Susie) to keep bidding to push the price up,” Mike said. The final bid was $170. Mike owned the team.

“They make incredible chili and I only get to eat it once a year,” Mike said about the Western Devil Barn Burners. Mike smiled and said he is happy to have his dad working for him.

“I never thought about it like that, but I guess I am working for my son,” Bob said.

The Western Devil Barn Burners team didn’t place at the cook-off, but the chili was still a hit, Bob said. “We went through six gallons by 1 p.m. The team was honored with the Merchant’s Perpetual trophy. “It was a fun weekend,” Bob said.

Well the week is done

I haven't written in a couple of weeks. This week has been crazy...I sold both horses. Snickers left on Saturday to a lucky person from San Diego and Journey left on Tuesday to a friend who lives here in Big Bear. Was I sorry that they are gone? Well let's just say, the new owners will give them what they need. Now since I have a hernia I can't even lift the saddle. Tears when they went but thankful that I had them for the time I had.

A great weekend is planned. We are putting our garage together, Saturday evening going to Band about Town, and going to a play at the Performing Arts Center on Sunday afternoon. Life is good.

Well hope everyone is great, thanks for the great comments on the blog. Love to all!

Ready for the week

Wow what a week ahead of us! My sister Stephanie is coming into San Diego for a week to visit her new grandson. I am picking up Bobbie on Wednesday and we are going to go down to SD until Sunday. Rachelle will be flying down on Friday and staying until Sunday. This is going to be fun!!!! Ron (Bobbie's son )will be coming down on Saturday so we will have a house full of family!!!!! I am so excited!!!! Hopefully Andy can make it down on Friday for the night and stay to join all of us.

Sunday I will be taking off and driving to Las Vegas for the Gift Show and will be coming home on Tuesday or Wednesday evening. What a huge week ahead of me! Hopefully I have enough energy to do all of this. Hum, visiting, eating laughing and shopping, I think I can be tough and make it.

The boys are going to check out colleges this week with their AVID class. They are leaving on Wednesday morning and will be seeing many colleges from San Francisco to Santa Barbara. They should have a great time! They will be home on Saturday afternoon. Andy will probably stay home because of the time schedule.

Our 3rd anniversary is on the 29th, Friday. We will go ahead and plan an weekend away, probably to Santa Barbara for a cooking weekend and wine country later in the month. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Well enough for today, I will be writing for later on in the week. I promise to take a lot of pictures of everyone. Love to all

Great Day!

Well I am excited about today! My nephew is coming up to go skiing with his family and new baby! I will be seeing the baby before the grandmother does, that makes me sad. I will be going over there today to see if they can use the boards from my sons and visit before I have to leave for the evening

Later tonight there is a performance at the PAC and Andy and I are going. Tanya is providing the desserts for the performance. Should be a great show, we are really looking forward to the performance.

Gail and I will be going out to lunch with the baby while the boys are skiing, later that evening we will make a great dinner to celebrate all the great blessings we have! Then on Monday Andy will join them for the afternoon for the last ski run. Should be a lot of fun!!!

So to top that?!!! My sister Stephanie will be coming out on the 26th!!!!! Wow! She will be arriving in San Diego on Tuesday and Bobbie and I will be going out there on Wednesday through Friday. I am soooooo excited!!!! Since Friday the 29th is our anniversary, I don't know if I will drive home or hopefully he will drive out there and we will celebrate our 3rd (12th) anniversary. Get it Leap Year? That way I can stay for the entire weekend. Rachelle will probably come out for the weekend, I don't want to miss seeing her. We'll see.

Well enough for the day, Jumping in the shower and getting on with the day. Hope everyone is doing fabulous!

Fools Gold

Andy and I went out to the movies and sushi last night. We went and saw "Fools Gold". It was really a great movie! Treasure hunting in it's finest. It was not shot in Key West but it really looked like (except for the incredible water) and and it really made me want to go back. I LOVE KEY WEST! I have looked up Mel Fisher and the treasure hunting excursions they have and really have talked to the boys about making taking a year off before college and do something exciting. They have a program that you can sign up for a year and dive for treasure. The pay is minimal but the life experience is second to none. Heck, why can't I sign up? Could you imagine saying to your kids "Yea, when I graduated high school I took off for a year and searched for treasure in the Bahamas with Mel Fishers team."?

With the travel bug hitting at it's peak, I wanted to book another trip down there as soon as I got home. We have talked about renting a house for a month next summer when the boys graduate high school, but with the hurricanes, well, let's say I don't want to experience that disaster, I had enough on my own land with the fires and earthquakes.

Today is beauitiful and the snow is melting fast, needless to say, it is extremely MUDDY! I am staying in the house today, just peeking outside from time to time, I wish I could sit out and get some sun on my face. Spring is still too far away. I am just glad that I had this over the winter and not the summer, makes staying home a little easier.

Well since I have two sets of friends that are leaving for Hawaii today I have just some guidelines for everyone who wishes they were in Hawaii

Guides for living Hawaiian Style:

Never judge a day by the weather
The best "things" in life aren't things
Tell the truth, there is less to remember
Speak softly and wear a loud shirt
Goals are deceptive. The unaimed arrow never misses
He who dies with the most toys still dies
Age is relative. When you are over the hill, you pick up speed
There are two ways to be rich-make more money or desire less
Beauty is internal-looks mean nothing
No rain, no rainbows
Tell everyone you love them and you will always have plenty.

Well my friends, be safe, have a great time and know that I wish I was there with you, maybe next year. Have a cocktail on the beach and a kiss for me if you would. Until you get home, be careful! Love ya!

Day trip to Vegas

Yesterday was CRAZY!!!! Left Big Bear at 11Am for Las Vegas and arrived at the Pulmologist at 2PM, they were faboulous! They walked me right in and withing 10 minutes I met with the doctor. Great news! It was exactly what I wanted to hear except for him telling me that I had another blood clot in the second lung! But the CT and xrays looked great and to keep on doing what I am doing. He complimented Big Bear Hospital on so many levels and said they did EVERYTHING right! I am so very proud to live here, it was almost like a child receiving a medal! Asked the doctor when I can start traveling, this weekend? Think not! But soon!

Within minutes after the meeting we were on our way back and arrived home (after picking up Alex and Dominos) at 8:30PM. What a loooong day!

I was sad that I didn't get a chance to see Rachelle and Mark. They are leaving for vacation on Saturday and I wanted to see her before she left. I still have not met Sugar and Spice, and if all was better I would have loved to stay in Vegas and watch their babies and enjoyed a vacation in Vegas for a while.

Well today is great, just doing what I have been doing. Andy has Rotary tonight and I'm hangin out with Kim. Hope everyone is doing great, please know that I am.

Have a great day!

Daily Update

First of all, thank ALL of you for your concern regarding my health condition. To be blessed to live in such a loving and caring community is very humbling. The out pour of friends and family has Andy and I thanking God that he has blessed us for such wonderful gifts. Bobbie stayed with me for two weeks following the hospital, I have really thanked her especially during my b**chy times.

Can you believe that January is over? Wow! I am glad that February is here and we are on the right road. We are going to Las Vegas tomorrow, for the day, to see the surgeon that did the operation just to get checked off. then we are heading over the the Pulmonologist so he can take a look at my lungs. My doctor said that the pneumonia will last probably 2-3 more months in one lung and 3-4 in the other. He is worried about the right lung and the blood clot in the left. Hopefully, this doctor in Vegas will be able to shed some light on the position of the clot and the damage the pneumonia did on my lungs. Unbelievable!

The snow is incredible, Andy has actually been able to ski the past couple of days. Why live here if you can't take advantage of it? Especially after what he has been through with me this past month, go have fun! Hopefully, I can get some pics of him skiing so I can put on the blog, but since I won't be on the slopes that is not going to be anytime soon. I will take some pics of the snow and surroundings from my porch. (Ye-Ha).

Well I am going to end this note for tonight, sitting and doing nothing is calling me, so I better listen to it. Andy just got a fire started....

Words to live by. This was posted in the Long Beach Pilot Assoc. He was one of the Pilot's that was killed in the two plane crash over Corona CA

It’s a brand new year and what will I do with it? Well looking back at last year I have only one large question, where did the time go? Let’s see 12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days 8,760 hours, which is 86,400 seconds every day. Let’s imagine there is a bank which credits your account each morning with $86,400.00, carries over no balance from day to day, allows you to keep no cash balance, and every evening cancels whatever part of the amount you had failed to use during the day. What would you do? Draw out every cent, of course. Well, everyone has such a bank… it’s called TIME.

Every morning it credits you with 86,400 seconds. Every night it writes off as a loss whatever of this you have failed to invest to good purpose. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft. Each day it opens a new account for you. Each night it burns the records of the day. If you fail to use the day’s deposit, the loss is yours. There is no going back. There is no drawing against ”tomorrow”. You must live in the present of today’s deposit. Invest it to get the most in health, happiness and success. The clock is running. Make the most of today.

· To realize the value of one year, ask a student who has failed his final exam.
· To realize the value of one month, ask a mother who has given birth to a premature baby.
· To realize the value of one week, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
· To realize the value of one day, ask a daily wage laborer who has 10 kids to feed.
· To realize the value of one hour, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
· To realize the value of one minute, ask the person who has missed the train.
· To realize the value of one second, ask the person who has survived an accident.
· To realize the value of one mille-second, ask the person who has won a gold medal in the Olympics.

Treasure every moment that you have. Time is a coin you can spend only once. Waste your time and you have wasted your money. Remember time waits for no one. You can waste time, however you can’t earn time. Make 2008 a year to remember, don’t look back and say, where did the year go”?

Respectfully submitted,
Scott Lawrence, President, GLB

Wow today is already February 4th, 2008 No better time than now!

Well it being February 4th, and have a lot of time on my hands now so I thought I would write to tell hi to all my friends and family.

I wanted to start with this one page and add more later
