Foto Friday....

As I promise, I love writing in my blog.  Even though it seems like we are all flyin, I think a moment to enjoy a picture is always worth it.

This picture today is from a "Sitting Pretty" class I took last week offered by our gardening club here in Big Bear.

This class was soo much fun.  How do you do it?  Easy Breezy as my friend Kim would say.

All you do is get a chair, take out the middle part, put chicken wire down, and staple it to the chair.  Make sure the wire is deep for the growth of the plants.  Get potting soil and perlite.  Mix the two together (the perlite will hold moisture).

The host brought out baby diapers.  Baby Diapers!!!!  She said cut a couple of hole into the diaper and lay it on the bottom of the basket and it will asorb moisture too!  What a great idea!!!!

Well withink 10 minutes I had my chair done and it came out sooo cute!!  I was really proud of myself.

Total cost:

Chair:  $15.00  I bought it at a Antique shop, but everyone else said they found theirs for free.  I just didn't have time to "find"  so I bought mine.  It was already painted blue and the legs were shortened.  PERFECT!

Dirt: $5.00 (You can find it cheaper)  Remember I live far away from cheap.
Perlite:  $3.99 will last me a LONG time!
Plants: Pony plants $3.99 (6 total) and one geranium @ $2.50
Moss:  You can buy any type of decorative moss even from a craft store, I had some already.
Chicken Wire:  I had some thanks to my chickens.

So, for start up cost around  $29.00 is was well worth it!    Next time it won't be a1/4 this amount.  Maybe just for the cost of the plants.  I can't wait to do more when I have time!
Let me know what you think....

This looks much better now that the plants have had a chance to grow.   Love it!

This is what the class made, how cute is this!

Isn't the little one just adorable?  She made it for her "fairy" garden.  The red chair is actually metal, who knew??

Thursday Thoughts.....

Here is something my sister sent to me.  I truly am a cowboy!

Cowboy rules for:

Arizona, Texas , Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Idaho, Nebraska and the rest of the Wild West are as follows:

1. Pull your pants up. You look like an idiot. (I say to my son ALL the time, in fact, we were in a grocery store and some man came up to him and told him off for wearing those pants around his daughter, I laughed).

2. Turn your cap right, your head ain't crooked. (Again, my son)

3. Let's get this straight: it's called a 'gravel road.' I drive a pickup truck because I want to. No matter how slow you drive, you're gonna get dust on your Lexus.  (Just drive your car slower, I do when I am not driving my pickup, which is almost NEVER)

4. They are cattle. That's why they smell like cattle. They smell like money to us. Get over it. Don't like it? I-10 & I-40 go east and west, I-17 & I-15 goes north and south. Pick one and go.

5. So you have a $60,000 car. We're impressed. We have $250,000 Combines that are driven only 3 weeks a year.

6. Every person in the Wild West waves. It's called being friendly. Try to understand the concept.

7. If that cell phone rings while a bunch of geese/pheasants/
ducks/doves are comin' in during a hunt, we WILL shoot it outta your hand. You better hope you don't have it up to your ear at the time.

8. Yeah. We eat trout, salmon, deer and elk. You really want sushi and caviar? It's available at the corner bait shop. (But I do eat sushi, heck I make it!)

9. The 'Opener' refers to the first day of deer season. It's a religious holiday held the closest Saturday to the first of November.

10. We open doors for women. That's applied to all women, regardless of age. (Amen)

11. No, there's no 'vegetarian special' on the menu. Order steak, or you can order the Chef's Salad and pick off the 2 pounds of ham and turkey.

12. When we fill out a table, there are three main dishes: meats, vegetables, and breads. We use three spices: salt, pepper, and ketchup! Oh, yeah ... We don't care what you folks in Cincinnati call that stuff you eat ... IT AIN'T REAL CHILI!!

13. You bring 'Coke' into my house, it better be brown, wet and served over ice. You bring 'Mary Jane' into my house, she better be cute, know how to shoot, drive a truck, and have long hair.

14. College and High School Football is as important here as the Giants, the Yankees, the Mets, the Lakers and the Knicks, and a dang site more fun to watch.

15. Yeah, we have golf courses. But don't hit the water hazards - it spooks the fish.

16. Turn down that blasted car stereo! That thumpity-thump ain't music, anyway. We don't want to hear it anymore than we want to see your boxers! Refer back to #1!

Wow! Ok this is what has happened this week Whew!

This is the little machine Silhoutte SD Machine can do....You will be AMAZED. please bear with me on the simple things, but we all have to start somewhere, I am going to the MOON and BACK!!!

How do you like it?  The font on the green vase in called "Black boys on mopeds"  What????? But seriously, that is the truth!  Too funny!

I have been addicted to other people's blogs regarding this machine.  Take a look at my side bar with the other bloggers blogs and I can almost guarantee you that they are working with this machine too.

But I have to tell you, to get it started was a pain.  I don't sit and read instructions and like to "wing" it and for that I have to suffer the consequences of that.  I get it.  I just pray that I don't break the machine in the process.  That is like sewing.  I had my mentor come over now a few times to teach me the "right" way of sewing.  Not my way.  My way is probably wrong and I know once I get the bad habits I will just keep going back to it over and over again.  I am that way on knitting, again, bad habits.  Do you get it now?

I just seem now to have more patience than I every have, or is it I am tired of not succeeding on projects I have started.  Well I am finally finishing things, that is why my blogging is suffering.

Thank you for keep checking in on me.  (I finished "The Help" last night).  Boy it was a good book, good reader.  Now to go and finish the scarf, man I have ALOT going on.  I will have to write about my sushi party on Saturday, now that was a hoot!  I have a lot of pictures and stories about that one!

Prepared to be blown away, this little girl is amazing, did you see this on AGT?

I sat straight up and my mouth dropped!  She is unbelievable and no there was no one in the shadows singing for her.  Watch this and enjoy!  I can't wait until she sings again.  Could you imagine hearing her in her bedroom for the first time?  I would think someone was in there with her a big opera singer and taken over her body!

Enjoy!

Foto Friday....

Good Morning,

I just wanted to put something on today that was easy to look at.  For centuries, people have been painting fruit and for the past oh 100 years or so, they have been photographing fruit.  I am no exception.  I love to look at a beautiful bowl presenting fruit.  Here here is my Foto Friday of Fruit.

Please have a great weekend.  I am going to sew a pair of cooking pants today.  I hopefully will post my design early next week.  I am excited about doing this.  I think I have overwhelmed Andy with making place mats.  How many sets do we really need?  As many as I want to make!  I love fabric.

Foto Friday....

Can you smell the pine trees?  Can you smell the cool breeze along with the heat coming from the ground?  This was taken on another part of the lake.  Wanna join me for a walk sometime?  I would love to have you. We could make a picnic, sit next to the water and watch the children play.

Enjoy the "foto".

Have a great weekend!

What I am reading now..

I went to my book club meeting on Tuesday.  Hey if you ever have a chance to get into a book club I HIGHLY recommend it.  That is if you like to read.  I LOVE to read. When I was in my early 20's and didn't have any money to spend, I use to get home after work, get my pj's on, make a sandwich (I was broke) sit down open up a book and 3-4 hours later, it was time for bed.  Now if I got calls from my friends I would definitely pick up, that took priority over EVERYTHING!

My favorite book, well there are so many, off the cuff, I would have to say, "The Stand" by Steven King.

Not only did I read it as soon as it came out, I hit the story exactly when the weather was the same in the book, but when they re-released it I had just finished it one week earlier.  Bought it immediately and re-read it again.  Incredible book.

It was my first "Big" book I read with more than 200 and something  pages.  I grew up!

Now, my club is reading "The Help"

I like this book, the writer writes a lot in the persons thoughts and even though I am a few dozen pages into it.  I recommend this book.  I was looking at another blog site this morning and she said she kept reading this book.  I get that.  It is based on the 1960's and their way of thinking, that is all I am gonna say about that.

If you do get this book, let me know what you think....

This weekend I am attending a book signing of an author I have just fallen for her writing.  Her name is Christie Walker Bos and she is from Big Bear.  I have read "Finding Delaney", which was the first book I had to read in the book club and found her writing, easy and fun.  Sunday she is re-releasing "The Man List" and it is a fictional book that has the main character make a list of what she wants in a man.  It worked, and it worked in Christie's life!  Unbelievable!   If you want something bad enough, write it down, my pastor used to say that all the time.  But be careful with what you want, you might just get it.  True words, huh?

Have a great day, now to get my foto for Foto Friday, that is a lot of F's!

Chow!
